uh...change the 02 sensor? seems logical enoughthis car had nitrous sprayed on it and the o2 sensor went bad a while ago and still ran fine. plus on other cars i have ran without the o2 sensor for a bit and doesnt affect the performance this drastic.

Well the O2 sensor was the first thing that came to my mind so why dont you change it instead of changing other stuff, they're like 60 bucks.

Well the O2 sensor was the first thing that came to my mind so why dont you change it instead of changing other stuff, they're like 60 bucks.out of all the stuff ive changed was general maintence and needed it. the only thing i have had to buy so far was the rotor and seafoam. i have 3 cars and my disposable income has been low lately so i havent bought a o2 sensor.

when i picked up the car the o2 sensor was bad and still ran hard. out of the seven honda ive had and ran some of them without a sensor they have never ran like this. without it cars usually run lean and almost run better.

but without a doubt this payday i am going to pick up a new o2.

when did it start doing this? i mean did u make any modification or add a new part to ur car right before it did this?

Unless you have some sort of engine managment where you can dis-able the factory o2 sensor it is hurting your performance .

Any time you have a CEL your car is in limp mode wich means it isnt going to run correctly until that light goes away. ex, bad gas milege etc

I don't think it is the o2 sensor, but I'd fix it anyways. It sound like a timing issue, either the belt or ignition timing. If it was the TPS sensor, there should already be a code for it.

o2 sensor unplugged the car should run lean, mine seems to run rich as hell. i am going to pick up a new one but i dont think its my main problem. in fact the check enginge light never really came on i was just told the o2 sensor was bad when i got the car. then when i had hondata on it i had the o2 unplugged

your tps can be sending weak voltage and the ecu will not notice it therefore not throwing a code. i have seen bad tps act like my car is doing and thought maybe it could be it. its easy to check i just a need a volt meter which is like 20bucks.

since i would like to check the timing anyways can you check it without the timing covers cause i need it

after working on this car all day yesterday and one to many beers i made this thread. i appreciate the help and no flaming:cheers:

Wow this will be tougher without the cover with the markings because you'll have to estimate everything. Try this:

1. Remove the spark-plug & spark-plug wires from the 1st cylinder (cylinder #1) or remove all for easier rotations.

2. Get something long and straight like a clothe-hanger and put it into the cylinder hole.

3. Turn the crankpulley counter-clockwise until the white mark on it reaches UP. The clothe-hanger should move up and down as you turn.

4. This part might be tricky. Check for the clothe-hanger, it should rise really high now since the cylinder #1 is near TDC. Wiggle the pulley back and forth by turning it counter-clockwise or clockwise by just a little and measure where the clothe-hanger is at its MOST top position. Use your judgement and mark on the clothe-hanger if you have to. Once it is at its highest position, you've reached TDC.

5. Check the the white mark on the crank pully and the two markings on the cam gear and estimate to see if they look like they are at TDC. Sorry this is the only way I know how to do it without the timing cover. But worth a try for an estimate.

*Thanks to Josh at crafts 5-star for the info.

when did it start doing this? i mean did u make any modification or add a new part to ur car right before it did this?i had the car at my dads for paint and body work and while he was driving it on a cold day and all of a sudden he said it started to run like shit. he said he thought he was stuck in a snow drift at first.

I have an idea, sell one of your effin cars man...you sound like mike...i have 3 hatches and a bike but i have no money....noone needs that many cars, especially if you cant afford it.yeah im about to sell the accord to put some money into my crx. anyone interested?

and thanks handa for the timing trick i will have to try it on my day off.

also try unplugging the neg. battery wire or take the ecu fuse out for like 2 minutes. letting the ecu reset, that way the ecu can reconfigure it self.

Ay bitch i HAD 3 hatches and a bike... Now i just have the hatch/bike/Teg

-i'm pretty sure CEL for an 02 sensor will throw ur ecu into limp/safe mode, in limp mode your motor will be running rich for safety reasons. A bad 02 sensor will not make ur car bog under acceleration.. I have a 93 EX a while back and it too had a bad 02 sensor.. no boggin just a slight decrease in gas mileage.. Do you have a cat. on this car?

yo its sat ur day and ten heinekens later and a o2 sensor that cost me 80 bucks earlier netted no results but a nice buzz. I also checked the timing and its on point... My crx used to light the tires up but now they hardly want to go. I really dont care cause i have 100bucks into this car and it can sit for all I care.

The cat is hollowed for what i know.
