Is it doing it with every gear or only some of them? Also what's first gear like from a stop? Do you have to force it in really hard? Where is your clutch pedal grabbing at? Is it at the floor?

How is you transmission fluid level? Is it only hard to get in gear when moving, or is it also a problem when sitting still?

A transmission rebuild is serious business and you really need to know what you're doing to do that. Plus you need the proper tools. If you don't have any experience with it then don't expect this to be an overnight thing. There is a reason labor is $600. If you're dead set on doing it yourself, go buy another trans to put in your car to get you by while you rebuild this one.

Most likely the synchros are not the only issue. There is probably also an issue with the sliders and dogs. And the only manual I would recommend if you are attempting a transmission rebuild yourself, is a Helms manual for the year and make of the transmission.

I agree with Nick. Its a PITA working with the transmission. I've swapped transmission internals before when I still had my GSR. I couldn't imagine pulling gears apart to replace the synchros.

Here's a good link though to give you a rough idea what is all involved:

The rebuild on a B-series is actually less complicated. But it does tell me that I may need to up my rates for transmission work a little bit.

To do the labor on a full rebuild using a SynchroTech kit, I would charge 240. I would install all bearings, seals, synchros and sliders that come with the kit. I would also fully clean the transmission housing. That kit should take care of your problems, but until somebody actually gets a look inside the transmission, you can't be 100%.

Them to go in .. I have to force them n .. Reall hard.. Idk if my tranny is goimg bad.. I already grinded 5 times yesterday .. Because of the gears not going in.. Can any one help me please

If all this happened all of a sudden then I would say its a clutch issue, not a trans issue. If it has been building up over time then yeah, prolly the trans, but if all of a sudden ALL of your gears have a hard time engaging then I would look at the clutch first.

Re: 96Acura gsr gears not going in

When you pull off the tranny... you will see the pressure plate located on the engine. Take it off with the star pattern 10mm socket or wrench all the way around the pressure plate. Then you will see the clutch springs. Check the meat and condition of the clutch and check to see if the springs are still intact inside the center-ish of the clutch. Make sure you have a b series clutch alignment tool before you take off tye pressure plate.

If you need any help with it just lmk.
