Default Comparing Tires

I'm looking for a good track tire(auto-x, road racing) that I can also daily drive. The size I'm aiming for is 205/50/15. So far these 3 are the ones I'm debating on. If anyone has any feedback I would appriciate it. Also if theres a different tire that anyone would recommend I'm open to suggestions. Thanks

Falken Azenis RT-615k vs. Nitto NT NeoGen VR vs. Dunlop Direzza DZ101

I love my regular RT-615's, so the 615k's are probably just that much better.

does more grip or more wear mean more to you. the stickier the tire the shorter lifespan.

My friend has a set of these on his corolla and he loves them. I found a set for $324 shipped.

You are not going to get the 615K's for under $80 a tire. You can definitely get the original 615's though.

I have used Vulcan 4 different times now and have never been disappointed. I have also used discount and tire rack. All have been positive experiences. I bought different types of tires from each though. My next tire purchase will be from M&H though. Those guys have the best in "my" business. LOL

Yeah your right, I think I was looking at the 615s instead of the 615ks. I guess those are out of the questionb now, they're $100 a piece before shipping.

These are the ones I was talking about.

http://www.vulcantire.com/cgi-bin/ti...is_rt615_t.htm

For 205/50/15's, they're $324 shipped, $332 with rubber valve stem added, and $364 with the Road Hazard Warranty added.

in 205/50R15 discount tire has the Direzzas for $73.77

http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...w=false&cs=205

if you step down to 195/55R15 the options really open up:

Gerneral Exclaim UHP: $76

http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...w=false&cs=195

Yokohama S-Drive: $76

http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...w=false&cs=195

Nitto NT450: $80

http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...w=false&cs=195

not sure if you are aware but DTD has free shipping on everything.

Stay away from the Nitto NT450's, garbage tire. There are a lot better tires out there for the money.

why are they garbage? there are a ton of other factors that can go into tire satisfaction than the tire itself.

I.E. i did not care for my nitto neogens but lots of people really like them

im guessing the 615 is probably better for traction wise out of those? 200 vs 300/380 TW?

im ordering tires next months, mostly probably will be used for drag, ill be auto x, but im still a newb so it wouldnt make much difference(anything is better than all season 600TW).

Is there a big difference from using a 205/50 vs. a 195/55 tire?

it would be 10mm or 0.39" wider

the overall diameter would be nearly identical as the sidewall height ratio is dependent on the width

So I would get the same results using each one sepparetly on a track or auto-x course?

the wider version of the same tire would be better overall but if you go with a lesser tire just because its wider it negates its benefits.

if you can find what you want in your price range in 205 go for it, if you can't then don't feel too badly about running a decent 195.
