well the tranny is def a hydro bro.. if it was a cable tranny then you would need a cable to hydro conversion kit from hasport.

Those numbers are not a reliable way of telling what year the head is or what engine it came from.

the only way to tell what year the head is, is by the circle with emobossed numbers right above the exhaust port on cylinder #4

dude im pretty sure you have a full 99-00 si b16 swap like he said.. i did a lil research and i think your safe... as is for the wiring, good luck

That is a date stamp there in the second picture. The head is from a 2000. The units are date stamped from their production run, and the production runs are from the year before, therefore it is a 2000. What is the block stamp? B16A2? Also, you have a hydraulic transmission, although it does not look like it has a VIN tag on it. It would be riveted on the transmission and would be near the block code on the front of the block. It would be green in color. Another thing you can look for is a VIN tag on the block itself. It would be on the back of the block, down by the oil pan surface. It would be green also. You could tell definite year of the engine by decoding that VIN tag. Anymore questions, just ask.

Mike

Use the 98 EX harness for the car. As far as ECU, I would pick up a OBD1 P30 for stock. Otherwise go with a socketed P28/P06 that is chipped for a B16. To do that, you will need an OBD2A-OBD1 jumper harness.

It is not green lettering, it is actually a green tag like this.

With an S4 transmission housing, sounds like B16. Scrape the paint off of the area by the serial # there. Can't even see the block code.

I don't think the 1000800 code is the one mike was reffering to. An example would be "b16a2". Just like in his picture it says "h22a1"

yea i know what tag ur talking about but theres no green tag it was taken off. can see where it was and the 2 pins that hold it on just no tag. and for the b16a2 or any other cast be sides the pics ive taken is it unless theres something under the motor or on the other side of the block

Right above that serial # (1008000), if that is on the front of the block where I am thinking, there should also be an engine identification code. Like B16A2.

As far as the ECU, you would need to convert from obd2A to obd2B to run the factory ECU. A P28 would be better, especially with the S300.

That's a JDM valve cover. USDM valve covers have Honda Motors Co and JDM has the H symbol. Just trying to provide any info to help.

you have a 99 b16 or b18c1 head( b16 is off a civic and b18 would be off a gsr ) - ( anything 96 and newer will be OBD2 ) the ecu's you can use are
p28 , and p72 - if you are using hondadata it dosent matter what one you get since its all going to change when its tuned and if you want to run obd1 you will need a jumper harness from obd2 to obd1 that you can find on ebay for about $50 dollars , also what car is this going into ?? and im sure your block is for a h22 and wont blot up to a bseries * if you have any other questions pm me *

look on jdm city , ebay , online for you wire harness ( if your goin obd2 get a gsr engine harness , so it has the vtec line ran ) or bring it to the shop , they will run the vtec wire if needed and have the head placed on for about 70 per hour .. takes about 3-5 hours to get the job done - wrenches in des monies is having a sale till the end of the month too
