I have two questions for you guys and a possible answer to one of them. I took my intake manifold off tonight so I could Loctite my butterfly valves and this is what I found:
![]() 1. Is it normal to have a a small amount of oil in your intake manifold? My guess is yes it's due to the closed PCV system so it should be fine, but some confirmation on that would ease my mind. 2. What is causing the metal scarring on the inside tube of my manifold? |

A very small amount of oil in your intake is normal, it gets pulled up through they pcv system an makes the manifold have that brown redish colour.
As for the scaring like that, it could have been manufactured that way or something a previous owner did. An old trick people used to do was "port" manifold so where they meet its flush for better air flow. Based on your pic it doesn't look like you have anything to be concerned about. |
