The newest Z's have a different motor than the older ones. Old = Vq, new = VH I think.. .

The VH is suppose to be a VERY well built motor and will handle more boost and higher revs than the older Vq.

If you are looking for a used 350Z, they all come with the same tune if you are thinking Auto or 6spd. Auto might be different than 6spd of course.

The track model comes with the Brembo brakes which are needed for Road Course duty but I've heard these fail from time to time. Many people that can afford Track Days actually just get the base model and buy upgrade kits though which typically are $4,000 + systems and require 18" rims most of the time. I think Fast Brakes makes a good kit that fit's under 17" rims but who would want tiny little 17s?? These 350s are made to tuck 20"s. I personally like 18" fronts with 19" rears. Staggered from OEM so why not go ALL out staggered.

I'm not sure of all the variences over the years of the enthusiast vs base vs track

A new Nismo version is coming out soo as well. It's fully decked out with suspension and functional aero mods! Looks pretty damn nice too!

true but false at the same time. they all have the vq but the newer 350z models have the so called rev-up version which have a higher redline and 300hp compared to the older version 350z(mine)) have only 287hp.

for some reason i've seen a lot more early year base models tuned. possibly because the 03 base models are the lightest.

I'm not sure all what was changed but I know that I read that the motor has a new name / acronym and better internals. A bonus for all nissan fans.

When looking for a used sports car newer than 2003, the 350Z is deffinitely near the top of the list for tuners. Some S2000s are decently priced these days as well. Both great cars. $20,000 can fetch you a nice Z.
