Default Interior painting?

Basically, I want to convert my gray interior to something black (not glossy). It just looks much nicer. Interior including dash, center console, door panels, etc. Has anyone ever paint your interior? What are you experiences and what would you suggest?

I have seen some people do this before.. Matthew515 on here has done it in his eg I think. It doesn't look bad at all if you take time and use the right paint.

How does it look over time? Faded, or peeled?

If you use duplicolor vinyl paint it won't fade or peel off.. I can't say about other kinds of paint though.

I've been wanting to do this as well in my EM1. From all the research I've done, SEM is the way to go. I believe you need to use their adhesion promoter as well, but I believe the color you are looking for is Landau Black, this is the same OEM look that the gray has....but black.

As far as fading and chipping, from my research(don't quote me on this) I have seen great reviews for this stuff. I have seen posts from guys going a year strong with no problems. Take the time to prep the panels CORRECTLY, use the adhesion promoter, take your time painting, and I see no reason why this wouldn't last quite some time. Worst case scenario you have to repaint it one every year....thats kinda a bitch

+1 on the sem product, they are actually die not paint, it soaks in the plastics instead just covering it with a thin layer of paint. i used doupon interior paint, it will come off if you get a scratch on it etc.

if it's like a padded dash....use a high build primer, then block it, single stage black it. that way is has some uv protection.

i did my whole dash pillers center console everything looks awesome doesnt peel or fade at all, you gotta use some prep wipes to make it dull first so the dye stays better, i got all my stuff from auto-zone its called vht vynl dye you can get it shiny or satin lays down good & also drys good, does good on ware & tear too.

wouldnt recommend using it to dye the carpet in your car, it'll make it crunchy && your car will smell forever.

Matt used the same stuff i used....

Yea I've heard that it gets really noise and since I will be taking the deadening out.. It good to have something that will be like the same and will improve the appearance..

everythings all good now

basically what happened was i wanted to clean the center up a bit, but it had a couple scratches and chips and what not, so we (lovefordsms) first tried some vinyl dye/plastic paint, but it didnt want to stick so we ended up sanding-primering-sand some more, and now it looks "perfect"

when it gets warmer out im going to wet sad a bit and spray the black so hopefully it should come out like this minus the texture (with the pic im refering to the color)
http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_...0062_large.jpg

heres a pic of the center and armrest primered

closer pic of what it looks like needs wet sanded a bit

Thanks again Brian (P98) for selling me the center counsole and Chad (lovefordsms) for helping me clean it up a bit
