Cut out the rusted piping and weld in new piping with the muffler. Or you could do all new piping. Adding a muffler to stock piping isn't going to do anything but make noise. The biggest restriction on the stock exhaust system is the piping itself not the muffler.

Thanks for the tip, i really didnt think about that but for now ill just weld on pieces and replace the whole exhaust system later.

youll pay just as much welding in little pieces as you would replacing the whole piping. look up KTeller for a piping kit they are cheap and high quality.

If u read carefully... he just wants to make his car quieter bcuz of the hole from rust. Not to open up the restrictions

Last I checked he never said anything about making his car more quiet. He was looking at putting an aftermarket muffler on and if he should replace the rusted part of his piping when he does the install.

How about I sum up the rest of this thread for you.

From there, I told him to replace the rusted piping. I noticed he was going with a performance muffler so I informed him of how the stock piping is restricting and that he should replace the entire exhaust system instead of mending his stock piping.

He then said he was just going to weld on a piece. Which in my terms means patch the rusted part of piping.

Luder then informed him that he should replace the entirety of the piping right now while he is at it because the cost would be the same. He also pointed him in the direction of a good site to buy piping kits from.

There was then some confusion about the site and the piping because the OP couldn't find any piping kits for his car.

Luder mentioned there is piping for the preludes on there

and I finished it up with pointing out there isn't any 3g piping kits on there.

yes they can do either or. id do the whole exhaust. if you got a bad spot now there youll just get more later on. replace and get better sound and performance.
