So this may be a "newbish" question, but what are some effective and fairly simple ways to get a louder sounding spool? my wrx is bone stock (other than the cat back i have planned to throw on this week). this is the first turbo vehicle ive owned so im not familiar with it too much..but i love the sound. ive heard it said that a down pipe makes a difference but its also very loud. i dont want it too terribly loud because i drive it nearly two hours a day, every day. that being said, i also dont want to get too deep in modding because it is driven a LOT.
any suggestions from those with more knowledge than i would be very much appreciated ![]() __________________ Quote:

after market air filter and a nice intake pipe will really help you hear the spool up.

I personally use a Zero Sports drop in intake filter with their intake pipe. In my opinion the K&N panel filter is junk. That oiled media will cause a thin layer of film in the intake pipe and MAF. It also creates a higher amount of silicon to enter the engine.

There are other dry type panel drop in air filters available. STi, HKS, Apexi and Blitz are other companies that make them.
BTW any panel filter for a S14 Silvia will fit WRX STi also.

Take out the snorkel intake. this will give you some sound.
Also up pipe and downpipe will make your turbo scream for a stock turbo. Like Loi said, dont waste your money on an intake. I did and had to sell it because i lost power more then gaining. If you need help with anything subaru related, give Panda and I a holler. or sign up on Nasioc.com or clubwrx. I am a member on Nasioc name Team X. Just an FYI, on Nasioc be sure to research before posting a new question. They might drill you since you are a newbie. also we have a local group that meets once every first wednesday of each month. __________________ 02 Subie WRX - turbo spooling at 12 mph! 06 Civic LX |

Iowa Subaru Club FTW! You should come Wednesday, there's lots of peeps who're down to help you with your ride (from what I've experienced).
