Default Synchronizer

Would it be better to change the 3rd gear synchro or just get a new transmission????

It could also be more than a synchro as well.

The hub/slider could be bad as well. Without looking at it, it is really hard to tell.

i good way to keep your tranny in good working order is to use amoil synchromesh tranny fluid. It's made for trannys with brass synchros. I've used this in my tranny since i've owned the car. I've got an 02 type-s with 91k on the tranny with no grind issues.

sorry, Amsoil. Just goolge or bing search for Amsoil. You have to buy it from a dealer. I've never seen it in stores. It's called GM Amsoil Synchromesh Manual trans fluid

EDIT: I've used this stuff from about 42k on and i try and change it every 20k or so. Works great...........http://www.amsoil.com/StoreFront/mtf.aspx

yeah, no problem. If you get a hold of that stuff, you'll have to let me know what you think.
