Default Need help with JDM EP3 Type R - Honda expert advice welcome!

OK, I have a friend with a JDM EP3 Civic Type R in Hongkong - this car was imported from UK to hongkong. Its the real deal - red carpets, seats etc.

Anyways, his front balljoints are worn and needs replaced. Parts are not easily available and his source is saying each balljoint is $400 US.

I am thinking the balljoint is probably the same as the EP3 SI's sold here in the USA, but don't know how to confirm it.

Anyone have intimate knowledge on differences in suspension between the USDM SI and JDM cars?

I am hoping to buy him a set from here and ship it to him.

Anyone help appreciated!

EDIT - I found this online. Will it work?

Hodge - I heard back. They won't give him a part # :(

I asked on HT as I hope they are some foreign owners there!

I haven't had my 02 SI for awhile, but I believe the suspension set ups between the SI and Type R were fairly similar. I remember the SI being able use parts of the Type R suspension set up without issue, but I don't know if the same is true of the Type R being able to accept USDM parts. (and you never know, I've ran into parts before that were not completely interchangeable).

If I had to guess I would say the Type R should be able to us USDM balljoints without issue, but I am not certain.

That probably doesn't help a tremendous amount, but it's all I got haha

Here is some info from honda-tech:

The JDM EP3R is the same as the USDM and EDM, it's just the shocks and springs are different. Also the front sway was 24mm and rear was 22mm. The pickup points and control arms and everything else is the same. Just imagine a USDM EP3 or USDM DC5 with a different shock/spring combo and that's it. The control arms, axles, etc are all the same. The axles are going to be a bit beefier then the USDM EP3 if I remeber correctly but they're the same length and everything. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
