Default new project

Picked this '96 m-edition up last week from a junk yard. Said the motor "has something wrong with it." threw some rims on it, got it home and washed up, already looks better. I'll probably get a motor online but I'll tear this one apart first. Mainly got it because there's hardly any nice mx6's around here and I liked my last one. opinions/suggestions welcome

I'll lower it at some point but I'll probably be driving it to AZ in a couple months so it probably won't be before then..

I think Its called Phillips, in Sandyville ia

Update. finally got some time to look at it. Timing belt is broken, so I'm assuming the lady that owned it junked it because a shop told her it was an interference motor and is shot. just a guess. So I threw on a belt from my old mx6 for now. the tb tensioner is shot and the ps/waterpump belt tensioner is seized so I'm waiting on new ones... Hopefully will be done soon..

Haha damn that's bad. My old mx6 had the whole passenger side smashed in but yeah, had a semi-clean sol at the same time.

It's a beater that saves you tons of gas, so we all know that feel.

Finished it up today, changed the coolant and oil and started right up. even drives straight. Everything works except the windows, hopefully its just a fuse. total cost= $894.73... that includes buying the car, oil filter, tb & ps belt tensioners, and wheels & tires.

Cleaned up the valve cover and intake mani a little, still got a long ways to go. I'll get the vc painted soon, but can't decide between glossy white or gold to match the emblems.

Completely forgot about this thread..

Not a whole lot has changed... One thing I didn't realize before I bought the rsx wheels was that the center bore is too small for the Mazda, so they had to be bored out about 4mm. Put new rotors/calipers/pads on the rear. After driving it for awhile realized it burns a ton of oil. I've been putting in about a quart every time I get gas. Moved to AZ and drove it all 1500 miles (at 4k rpm haha) and it did fine except the alternator went out in NM.

On the optimistic side, I should be picking up a klze swap for it soon. Oh & gotta love the 5% tint. Its a life saver in the desert with leather seats.

Not sure, don't really care haha. Just gotta keep an eye on it.. My buddy got me hooked on boost with his built mr2 so if my income permits, I kinda want to boost the klze. But I also want a turbodiesel

Sweet. If its not going anywhere anytime soon, keep it out and get some of the harder stuff done before dropping it in.

Ha yeah, this is my 2nd one. They're fun but I'm selling it after the swap is finished.
