Default best shop for port an polish

Hey I'm looking for a really good shop to port an polish my h22 head. For a good price. I don't want no cheap ass job. But some places over rate themselves. I've tried looking on honda-tech. But you all trying to find good info on that your looking at spending your whole week filtering out shit. The place has to do port flow to.

RLZ would be my first choice. Period. After that, Team 4Piston out of Indiana then there is also a company called Head Games. But the best use RLZ. When I am looking for that last bit of hidden power I will send my head there.

I checked them out. They only do medium street/strip for h22. For the slow series (b series) they do heavy n full race. From what I have read RLZ is the real deal.

RLZ is letting me down. I've emailed all three of there emails. Called them twice. No response n voice mail box is full. There website doesn't say they are closed. Or that they are out of the office. I emailed them a week an a half ago

Have you tried messaging them on Honda-Tech? That is where I am guessing most of their correspondence is made. If you don't have an account, I can message them for you.

locally in the midwest or anywhere?

All my heads so far has been done my Pat Lehmann who has a 2.2 bvtec 277whp motor.
He's my go to guy

In mn we also have Elvis of Renown who does decent work for a very nice price.

IF both weren't in business I would just ship it to King, portflow, rlz or i've heard good things about these guys...

I think Luke is alot like me when it comes to that stuff. I dont post dyno graphs on my site nor do I say if you use XX product of mine it will add XX horsepower. Flow numbers also dont mean squat for the most part, alot of guys will look at two flow charts and they will pick the one that flows the highest. They don't know what any of it means, they just get excited when they see that big number but thats not the whole story. Believe it or not many head porters just print off the same flow sheet and throw it in the box. Flow is easy to get, just make the port bigger... but thats not always how to make power, its all about volumetric efficiency and the only way to test that is to put it together, take it to the track or dyno it. Flow benches are a great tool to use to balance out the head and make sure all ports are equal, but beyond that I dont believe they mean much because it all has to work together in the end.

I suggest giving him a call and talking with him first hand about it. The guy has alot of expierience and is always willing to share advice.

Hey I seen on your site that you modified at h22 Usdm. I kinda did the same but not that nice lol. How much would it be for you to clean it up? I'm using the dhracing cause nothing else will fit without cutting the fire wall. N I'm very hesitant about doing that.

That actually looks pretty good! I've sure as heck seen alot worse, did you do that on a mill? PM me if you want to talk about a price for 3-D machining that out. Looks like you have a great start already though!

The Euro-R manifold could also be an option for you. John @ Explicit Speed has pusrchased 2 or 3 from me all going into CRX's. I suppose it depends on the mounts you use but he loves them. The only thing they need special over other chassis is the relocation kit I sell for the iacv since there is no room to mount it on the back.

This is what I'm running, its similiar to the DH setup except its got a dual throttle body and the lower manifold is machined out like the picture you probably have seen. The shroud or tray comes up and seals off against the underside of the hood and then theres a cutout in the hood for the air to come in.

Heres another option and this is offered by RLZ. I've got some of my own ideas in the works for something similiar too. I doubt this one would fit due to the size of the plenum...

So the euro R fits in johns?!?!??!?!?!!!!?!?!??! I'm using his mounts! I always thought they where longer then the usdm n i didnt want to buy one to find out. in your opinion what do u think is the best. Yours is pretty sweet but I don't wanna cut a hole in my hood. N yes I milled it out. U think the dhracing is good enough? Its kinda ugly. But I did see a gain at the top end about 12hp. (But i also switch from a eBay header to camp 1320)

I think tho I should be ok with Dh racing. N would like to get that 3D ill pm you.

Heres a pic he posted with my iacv relocation installed...

Heres the thread...

Heres a pic I took of the usdm h22 and Euro-R side by side. With the iacv relocation on the back they are basically the same length.

This is some what off topic but since your talking about IM....

do you guys have more data on gains with RBC and RRC manifold (stock) compared to a SKUNK2 h22 IM or a modified H manifold such as what your currently running for the one pictured above by rlz?

I have not personally done any testing with the K series manifolds and I dont really plan to. I dont feel that there is any real benefit to them, in the end the Euro-R is going to be a few hundred cheaper and just plain easier to work with.

I've only tested my modified manifold against the Euro-R and it picked up quite a bit of midrange. I dyno and track tested several different plenum combinations till I found the best one. The RLZ stuff wasnt available till just last year I believe. I've never seen theirs in person but I've got my own version of something similiar designed based on the testing I've done with my different plenums. Hopefully I will something available this year.

I wouldnt say that its junk, in my opinion its better suited for a turbo setup. On an NA motor it makes good power in the upper rpm band, but that doesnt always mean it will be faster at the track. At least its an option, I wish that more companies would have stepped up to the plate to produce something off the shelf for us H guys.
