Msg Cable or Hydro Trans?

Just curious as to the difference between hydro and cable. Advantages? Disadvantages?

They are exactly what they say, hydro uses hydrolics to for the clutch and cable uses a cable. hydro is better in every way possible. Easier to push the pedal down, and you can use a higher performance clutch. Also the hydro trans are newer so generally have less miles on them.

The only cons I have are about the cable trans. Clutch cables break, and when you get an aftermarket clutch they can be a pain to push the pedal down.

Also depends on the chassis you are installing the transmission in. Biggest thing to me would be the inherent weakness of the small spline cable transmissions don't offer anywhere near the compatability of the hydro transmissions. I can use parts from any b series hydro transmission in any other b-series hydro transmission. The cables trans also have this, but the majority of the cable trans around here are all LS, and there are very few gearsets that are interchangeable to make yourself a better matched transmission to the engine combo.

Lol......anyways tho everything they said is true. The thing they missed tho. The b16 cable Tranny is the shortest gear ratio b series Tranny. But they are kinda rare now. N the hydro one is close enough to it

Incorrect. a 4.7 itr trans is shorter gear'd than a s1/j1.

Hey ososlohatch.... are you doing a rhd to your crx. This dude told me he was selling you you his sir cluster cover... anyways your gonna have to wire it for the buttons to work for a Usdm. So you know n you have to have a 90-91 cluster. If you have 88-89 it wont work. But I have the 88-89 Jdm cluster cover if.u need that one n I would do a straight trade. Sorry for the thread steal pm me or text me if your interested. 515-868-2704. Let's get back on topic. Go itr Tranny!!!

I am running a 4 door ef harness flipped, with the blinkers repinned, and have a 90-91 jdm cluster with conversion harness I made to plug into the stock ef 4 door clips on the dash harness. so Im just running the usdm hazard and dimmer switches.
I didnt get a whole front clip, I traded some parts for
the rhd firewall
rhd sumframe and steering rack
rhd wheel support and pedal assembly
rhd heater and heater tubing.
rhd dash
rhd shifter console
sir gauge cluster etc.

and my cable s1/j1 has about the same gears as a itr hydro trans minus the final drive. but the 1-5 are damn near the same, on paper.
