Default 02 ford explorer "need help"

I need some insight if anyone can help me on my moms 02 ford explorer. her door ajar is triggered even if the doors are shut. i was told they were sensors but have replaced the sensors and no solution? My brother told me he had a similar problem on his 04 lincoln aviator and had to change out some brain computer chip underneath the dash? Does anyone know if that sounds about right? If so does anyone know what its called and where exactly is it located? Price?

I've seen them called the general control module on a ford taurus. That could cause the symptom but that is always the last thing on a diagnosis chart to replace. Do some more research before replacing modules.

have you reset the ecu by disconnecting the battery for 10 mins after replacing the door sensor? if not, try resetting it and lmk if that solves the problem.

could be a door switch test all of them for continuity, then you need a diagram and check all the wiring.

Problem is fixed. it was a door sensor for the passenger side and i guess it is a prettt common problem on the explorers and mountaineers. Paid $70 for the sen sor through oreillys and took me about 30mins to change. more time was wasted in figuring how to get everything out
