Yeah the tie rods are pretty hardcore. The ones I have now are pretty beafy and hold up just fine, only they wont be long enough. Also I still need to order the SPL outer tie rods, I just hope the combo is long enough. If not then I'll probably buy a different coupling nut that's longer which should do the trick. (technically I can do that now, but I don't like my outer tie rods, and these PBM inners should add some more steering angle)

These are the outers I still need to order.

Nice find. Women who share the same hobbies and goals as you is always good to have.

Nick, you ever looked at JR to see if you could build you own rod ends with swedge tube and fittings? They have a ton of that stuff.

I've actually considered doing my own rod ends. The only issue I've run into is the tapered rod that goes into the knuckle...Although with the current ones I have I could just reuse the tapered rod I have. The only reason why I want/need to replace my rod ends is they won't be the right thread pitch for the new inner tie rods and the heim joint on the driverside is all fucked up.

I don't know enough about spherical joints tho, if I did I would really like to make my own inner/outer tie rod combo. I've got access to a cnc, lathe, and a lot more equipment to manufacture what I need as long as I have a design. (I wouldn't make my own joints tho, I would buy those) There of course is always a cost factor too. If it were to cost me more to make then I wouldn't even bother making them when I could buy a tested and proven product for less.

That tapered piece would most deffinately need to be heat treated for strength, probably case hardened and made out of 4140. Some of that stuff gets pretty technical, especially threaded bolts that will have both side and lateral forces. For example the threads may need to be softer than the tapered portion so they can be torqued without snapping. Theres alot of engineering behind some of that stuff. Machining it is one thing, the heat treatment and material selection is what makes it or breaks it though. Literally.

Those knuckles are crazy. I can't wait to see those installed.

And on that note I'm just gonna stick with buying a nice set.

The first test results just came in on the gktech knuckles. They set a new high with 66 degrees of lock which is one more then the pictures of the supra I posted. This now makes the s chassis the most steering angle chassis out there.

Actually my steering wheel is going to spin slower now, cut in half almost.

So do you still retain the same amount of turns per lock-to-lock?

I should hit full lock with just over 1 full turn of the wheel. Maybe 1.5 at most. Right now I'm getting full lock with the stock knuckles at a little more then 1.5 turns. It's not quite half but it'll be a definite difference since the steering arm length is cut almost in half. Doing auto x I'll never have to do a hand over hand turn. But with the zero ackerman it won't be able to do turn around very well and just push the front.

Made a rather decent sized order of parts, these ones aren't on back order or pre-sale tho, so hopefully I'll have something to show on here in a week. Here's a list of everything that's on the way. With all of this I'm one more step closer to passing Formula D Pro/Am tech. Just need to get some roll bar padding.

Sparco Racing Jade Suit - Colour: Black, Size: Large
OMP 2 Pole Master Cut-Off Switch w/ Lever Key
AeroCatch Plus Flush Lightweight Hood Pins - Locking
Circuit Sports Coolant Overflow Tank - S13
Circuit Sports Magnetic Oil Drain Plug
Circuit Sports Oil Filter Relocation Kit - Nissan SR20DET
OEM S14 Oil Filter - SR20DET
OEM Valve Cover Gasket - S13 SR20DET
OEM Spark Well Gaskets - S13 SR20DET
Chase Bays Power Steering Kit - S13 240sx w/ SR20DET
Megan Racing Silicon Steering Boots - S13
SPL PRO V5 Front Outer Tie Rod Ends - 240sx

Sick video of Simon Michelmore using GKtech knuckles with the Zero ackerman arms getting more angle then I could have ever hoped to obtain. Backwards entry on his first event running the zero ackerman arms, all I can say is damn!

Just got a txt last night from my buddy that all of our parts are starting to arrive from Enjuku. Hopefully everything else arrives tonight so I have something to show on here. It's been a while since I posted actual work being done to the car.

It won't be that bad or take that long either. My simulator setup has the steering setup almost exact to how my car should be once I get the knuckles installed so I'll already be used to it. The only thing that'll be weird is not cranking the wheel all the way when backing out of a parking spot. The wheels will be turned too far and it'll cause me to actually drag my front wheels lol.

Won't be shipping out till March 4th or later. They sent me an email about a week ago on it telling me they had finalized and put them into production. I'll be part of the first batch of of the general public to receive them.

I also found out that some of my order with Enjuku won't be here until Thursday or Friday.

I'm waiting on too much stuff, thank god I have a lot of patience and I'm not in need of anything immediately. Planning and buying parts ahead sure does pay off.

I really need to stop looking at other 240 builds, it keeps making me want more and more out of mine, then I find myself shopping for parts I already have and don't need...

Ordered a new intake pipe from PBM just now, going to make me feel a lot more comfortable with my car, the stock rubber one has been rubbing away on my power steering line and is crimped. All last year every time I would pop my hood the fear of that pipe tearing would eat away at me.

For those that don't know, SR20's are MAF based (unless switched to MAP) so if there is a leak anywhere in the intake piping after the maf then your car sucks in un-metered air and runs like absolute shit.

I seriously cannot wait for everything I've ordered from everywhere to arrive, it's going to feel like Christmas for my car. Not to mention all the things I'll be ordering with my tax return ;)

Thought I would post a quick update on here. I've moved my build thread over to a blog instead. Not really wanting much to do with forums anymore.

So for anyone who's interested in up to date stuff with the car here's a link.
