Exedy is fine, all clutches are going to have horror stories. It might have blown up due to improper intallation, or a break in period gone wrong or just product malfunction. I would think that a gig name company would send you a new one if it was properly installed and the product was defective.

exedy is fine for normal mods. i would boost on an exedy.

but i prefer clutchmaster or competition clutch. price is a little steep.

I had a turbo d16 with LSD slip on a stock replacement Exedy clutch and pressure plate and it held up amazingly through tons of abuse. I also have the same setup on my B16a and my B20b that is currently in my car. all these setups have seen the track plenty. Exedy clutches are great in my book.

i have exedy stage 1 and it has great pedal feel and driveability compared to my old ACT HDSS

I should had just went with act or clutch masters. I wanted to try south bend because i heard great success with them. They build diesel clutches and high torque clutches and pressure plates for modified cars, with the feel of stock pedal and no chatter. I really hope the clutch is still good, considering I only have a 400 or so miles on it. It did seem to to hold very well at 15psi to red line, but slipped when shifting. I'ma rebleed it and give it a chance in the spring, its really hard to tune if it's slipping when i'm not using a pressure sensor. I've read it just needs more miles on it. I'm not an idiot, i know how to install a clutch.
