Trying to keep it as stock as possible so I can drive it all year round. Slammed BMW's don't exactly do well in the snow :)

Wheels are big and heavy. Hurt me in a straight line...but all of the extra rubber and higher performance tire sure helps in the twisties.

i see, thats cool. i wish my bimmer was in better shape when i got it but i got it for cheap so i was expecting to have to put some money into it to make it roadworthy.

i plan on M converting it, repaint, and just doing some hardcore maintenance on it so it remains reliable.

Are you aware of Projektgerman? Local forum for German cars. Have you made any recent progress on your ride?

It's not terribly difficult... I've done 4 clutches on bmw's. Pretty straightforward, the worst parts are taking the exhaust down and the top 3 bolts on the bellhousing... Where are you located? I might be down to help.

i live in iowa city but the car is in des moines right now. the exhaust bolts are rusted to shit so i was thinking itd be best to remove the engine and install a header, replace fuel filter, and replace some seals to stop an oil leak. it'd make doing the clutch simple also.

i just don't want to start snapping studs in the head. that'd suck.

edit: oh damn, i just realized this wasn't my thread...the guy copied my thread title. well he sold his e36 but is also a member over on PKG

It's cool, I figured you were talking about your e28 from your signature... If you're gonna go so far as to take the engine out, you should get an "i" head and a fresh cam grind for it. 2.7i would be pretty fun.

I have a moates ostrich so I can tune motronic 1.3 (and alot of other ecu's) to compensate for an aggressive cam... I've been able to convert my barn-door AFM to a Ford Taurus MAF (hot wire type) by playing with mine (not quite 100% yet, but getting there).

Looks far from a POS, at least the pic in the OP.
Also, nixholas; I see your ride in Ames all the time. That thing is sick!
