Default AutoX

I'm bored at work so I need to get back to my old Forums!

so I'm still driving my car to Autocrosses and track events out here

I did pretty good at my last event. So far car is pretty stock except wheels, tires, 22mm rear swaybar, 3mm spacers front.

http://www.azsolo.com/results.html
ryan B. 2008 Civic Si
photos of the cars that run http://www.azsolo.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=8031

If you sort result by PAX using the upper right hand drop down box I placed 46 out of 126 competitors. Typically in this region I hear that if you score above 900 PAX you are doing pretty darn good b/c the talent of drivers/cars out here is thick.

notice how many of the top 10 cars were on street tires in overal PAX. It was a bit chilly out for AZ

My fun run time was almost 1 second fast than my competiton run 63.343 vs 64.205 .. . If I would have done that during competition I would have placed like 30th or so.

an interesting result came from Ben Clements EVO 8 RS when he let another driver Clint Child take it for a spin for a fun run and got a 57 second run which would have only been slightly slower than the Porsche GT3's run which is all stock accept for running on Hoosiers and aftermarket rims. The driver of the GT3 is a 20 year vetran and is allways fast!

DMVR used to race on little wall lake just outside of Jewel back in the day, usually landed the same weekend as the Daytona 500... ice permitting. That was the first time I drove a car with my dad in the passenger seat. I think I was 10 or so.

Ahh, when there's a will, there's a way! Someone always brought a portable TV, and there was a cabin right by the lake that we used as our "warming spot" It was great!

And fyi there is another AutoX tomorrow I'm still runnin no camber and not lowered. Just wheels/tires/22mm RSB. I got screwed on some ebay 22mm wheel spacers in which I was going to install and put my camber at -2.0 or so front.

Discussion is here: http://www.forums.dmvrscca.org/forum...pic.php?t=1356

Main Schedule here: http://www.dmvrscca.org/soloschd.htm

Most of the dates are solid...but I think John is still trying to iron out the final logistics on a couple locations.

I'll post a new thread or update my 2008 thread when everything is final, (probably within the next couple of weeks).

Hope to see you there.

car now has 245/40/17 Dunlop Direzzas and 17x8.5 +40 Enkei RPF1s. let the STX pownage being!!

Prepping for HPDE road course duty as well. Parts awaiting installation in garage include; stiffer bushings, more camber, 2006 Acura TSX front brakes and good pads and fluid of course.

I'll update after I get the damn thing lowered and at another event, road course or AutoX.

17x8.5 +40 with new 245/40/17 Dunlop Direzza Z1 star Specs. With the test fit tonight, as I said before at OEM height, the rear is gonna require more camber than factory to clear the outer fender. Under full compression, it probably wont tuck the tire. I'm going to add more rear camber to -2 to -2.5 and stay at OEM height for at least one Autocross. I want a comparison b/t running these tires on stock shocks and springs vs progress springs.

Front clears just fine with -1 deg camber(1 lower strut bolt). Didn't drive it around but it looks to be fine both on shock and fender clearance.

I think these rims actually look really small. I've always thought that. The 17x9s look better b/c the spokes are set in more and flush with the outer lip. These have HUGE clearance for BBKs. If I had larger balls I'd run 17x9 +35s with 245s.

Plenty of room to run coilovers at -1 deg camber or add to get -2 which I will be doing with a pair of camber bolts per side.

Good stuff Ryan. Will definitely look better when it's dropped a bit. I'm a sucker for RPF1's too.

yeah, I'm hoping it will really make the car look more race when it gets lowered. I'm only lowering about 1.5" though. About all you want to do on these cars.

I originally wasn't going to run RPF1s b/c they look so small but after I saw people running the 17x9 +35s with 235s I was like, it's on! The 17x8.5 size is really hard to find for a good price. RPf1s from Tire Rack came in at $1,016 shipped. All the other brands in that size were are $1400+

These cars wer my insperation - 17x9 +35. These have a flatter spoke design that is set back into the rim more giving a true lip that isn't typically defined on RPf1s. They look better than my 17x8.5s bc of this I think. oh well, the 17x9s with 245s would definitely require major fender rolling in the rear.
