Default 90 integra

hello all im getting a super good deal on a running/driving 90 integra ls was wondering if there are a lot of problems or issues i should be aware of when buying this car... \
he has had it in a local shop for about 4 months and they could figure out y it wouldn't start they change 3 starters and a bunch of other stuff and when the mechanic asked me if i knew anything i just told him to check all the grounds and it worked.
but anyways just looking for a little more info about these cars

Lol wow, the simplest of things always ends up being the worst......lol

Anyways to sorta answer your question it is an it hard and easy. The easy part is telling you what to potentially look for....the hard part is figuring out if any of the stuff told has been messed with, "fixed" or just completely hacked.to death.

One common issue with DA's is the iacv....seems to act up in cold weather and eventually in warm weather. Most of the issues at hand tend to deal with previous owner negligence.... so old hoses, parts, gaskets etc will always be an issue. Doing preventative maintenance to them helps take out a lot of the main issues associated with this particular chassis. So mechanically, it all depends on who did what-when- where-why......which can turn into a huge headache!

As far as body goes rear quarter panels always get the typical Honda cancer (which is due to the rubber piece attached to fender wheel well) if you see it....rip it out and check for potential rust. Other things like Old bushings on suspension can be a problem as well on these (usually around rear LCA's). Passenger side window seems to always be SLOW when weather gets cold and sometimes in the summer...needs just a bit of lithium grease on a few areas and (normally) it does the trick.

For the most part it is a pretty good solid chassis....just doesn't always get the attention needed to keep it running good and many people just like to beat the living crap out of them. I myself love these and cannot get away from them....I've owned approximately 7 of these. Fun cars to own if well maintained.

Let me know if you have any more specific concerns you'd like to look into.

Rodnie Is King Of DA's I Owned A 92 Da And Total Piece As Far As Motor Goes. Rodnie Is Right, Biggest Problems Are Owner Negligence. Is The Motor A Stock Motor?, Does It Look Like It's Been Tampered With?. Make Sure To Have Another Machanic Check It Out To Make Sure All Is Good. My Old Da Was Hacked To Shit. On A Side Note: Rodnie, The Next Owner Figured Out The Idle And Starting Problem. The Wiring From The Fuel Pump To The Injectors Was Set Up So The Fuel Would Continue To Run If Ever In An Accident. Basically When AtStart Up The Car Would Flood Itself. Good Luck Man.

Now as far as being king of them....naaaa, I know a few more people that have owned more than me. But I HAVE been around them since 1995 when my bro bought his 91. That makes me SUPER OLD cause I remember learning how to drive in that thing.....lol was certainly fun as hell!!

I consider myself a DA enthusiast, in part because it's a dying breed, they take actual mechanical experience to work on and the unique body style. Parts are rare which makes it exciting to find them, and you get them for cheap because nobody wants them haha.

I've had my DA for about 2 years now, and I've done ALOT of work to them. They have their quirks like anything else.

1. Water leaks are a main issue, at the cowl leaking to the passenger floor and the rear taillights leaking to the hatch bowl.

2. Auto Seatbelts are iffy, but covered lifetime warrantly through acura.

3. Hood latch cable is in a risky spot so a lot of people will move the cable to a safer location.

4. The Main Fuel Relay are tempermental and need to be repaired or replaced, but it's an easy fix.

5. Door Sensors....

6. The GS/LS Climate control lights are prone to solder cracking, an intermediate fix.

Blah blah blah. There are a lot of small, easily fixable issues with these cars as they were short lived, but there is a plethora of information and repair write-ups.

www.g2ic.com is the best place for DA information.

This is a great link for common repair write-ups and modifications:

TegTips

Hope that helps! I'm more than willing to lend a hand to keep a DA on the road if you need it
