You'll be fine on pump gas. Also it's a little hard to answer your "what's all needed" question when we don't know what all you have currently for parts and how far along your motor is build wise.
How far put together is your motor? Is the head on along with your vtec oil pluming? Is it completely assembled and in the car but you don't have the wiring and ecu? Need a little more info. |

Stock LS rods? Will you be using ARP mains and rod bolts?
Get some H beam rods, if not you're just asking for it to blow up. |

yeah still have the stock rods in it not planning on cracking 9500 rpms the only drag strip around here is 1/8 mile and won't need to very often plus it's a daily driver

this literally has EVERYTHING you need to know about building an LSVtec. I utilized this when doing my motor, and it was extremely helpful. Also, if you are doing a mild build, which from the sounds of it you are, the ARP rod bolts will be just fine. Do you have cams, cam gears, an intake, exhaust? Also, who is assembling the motor? |

what oem cams? is it the stock exhaust system? why gsr cams? do you have a helms manual? ram air??? ![]() no lie, building a motor is not something to attempt if you are unfamiliar with cars. no offense, but the majority of your posts make it seem as though this is your first time swinging a wrench. i'm not saying it can't be done, but the precision needed to complete a motor and NOT have it grenade the first time you crack vtec..... |

not first time swinging a wrench just first time dealing with modifications and hondas to be honest...have after market exhaust and header currently running b16a1 cams but have heard the b18c cams get a little more pull in vtec decided to run the cold air intake so i don't have to worry about mud puddles as much

You're building similar to what I built.
B18B1 block GSR Crank Eagle H-Beam Rods ITR USDM Pistons JDM OBD0 B16 Head ARP Main and Rod bolts with ARP head studs. Static compression is 11.3 I believe, I run premium and still need a tune. I have a 2.5" Tri-Y with a GReddy SP2 2.5" back (or whatever the actual measurement is in metric) True cold air intake pulling from the wheel skirt. It puts plenty of power down and will break the tires loose in first going from part throttle to full throttle, just dont have numbers yet. The b16's are bench tested to flow better than GSR heads and the cams have a tad more power than the GSR. Follow that HT build thread, I also used it as a reference. __________________ I want your DA parts! LS/V high compression build in progress. |
